Not to solve a problem with AI. Not to support a decision with AI. To do AI. The board approved it. The budget was allocated. The press release was drafted. The hiring began. The vendors were invited to demonstrate their platforms and the demonstrations were remarkable and the room was impressed and the procurement process began.

Nobody asked what decision the AI was supposed to support.
